bs34 barb question??

If i had a piece of vacume hose from one barb to the other instead of rubber block offs on each barb, would this make my bike run like crap?

Works fine. That's what I use. Just a piece of hose contecting them.

Once you have the carbs properly synced using the hose can further balance the cylinders. Just putting it on a so-so tuned bike won't make much difference.

I seem to remember the XS-1 had interconnects between the intake ports cast into the head, I also use vacuum hose to connect my barbs (poormans YICS, Yamaha Induction Control System), use vacuum hose not something cheap that will collaspe under the vacuum
