Bushyboy's build thread

Well got 6 out of 8 of my bulbs on the bike running LED now. The headlight was reconfigured today. The only two bulbs that aren't LED are the tiny incandescent bulbs in the tach and speedometer. I have been able to find a similar led mini bulb like those. Anyone know where I can find a mini LED that has the nipples like the incandescent bulbs?

Pretty sure I got this idea off one off one of you OG’s but instead of welding it on I just made some threads and added thread lock. Originally I had cut it off enough to still get at it with my shoe’s heel because it stuck out too far when I lost the exhaust on that side.

Yes, from me probably. I welded a short M6 Allen bolt to the end of my tang and fitted a stainless M6 acorn nut and washer to retain the rubber stopper. The little angled brace for the tang runs alongside the tang for a couple inches, way more than is needed. You can cut most of that off and that will allow your rubber "stopper" hose to slide on farther .....

You can also bend the tang forward a little so the stopper contacts that bracket on the frame better .....

But it appears your "bumper" needs to be slid on even further than mine. You may need to slot the rubber like I had to do on my '83 centerstand tang .....

@5twins your skills will one day make this young obi-wan into a Jedi knight. I knew I had seen that kick stand somewhere in the past. I had to split my rubber to get it to cover the section it was hitting my frame. I will have to check and see if it will still provide a bump stop how you have it.

I’m running 100% LED lights on the bike now. Thanks @Jim for the recommendation of mini LED.

Just passing knowledge along. I think it was @MaxPete that pointed 'em out to me. Even on these ol' paint shakers they should last a lifetime.

Well since I am waiting on parts I got the engine combustion chambers and valves cleaned up a little bit. All in preparation for the Kibblewhite springs arriving today. Then I’ll be able to put the bottom of the head on attached the cam chain and dial in the cam. I ordered both the Porsche lifter adjusters and Kedo lifter adjusters; which one I’ll use I am unsure if yet. I did get some good advice from @TwoManyXS1Bs on the Kedo lifter adjusters. I am having an issue with the seller not responding or shipping the Kedo lifters so that may be the deciding factor which one I use. I do like them better because they have an Allen key slot to adjust and no modification needed.

Where did you buy the Porsche lifters from? I was thinking about buying a set although I heard that you have to grind a bit of the rocker arm so they can fit.
I got them off eBay searching the part number. If I don’t use them I will give you a PM and see if you want them. And yes you do have to grind some off and extend the flat head slot.
