One idea I might try.

I would consider replacing the bolts with studs that go all the way to the bottom of the holes. Maybe use some Red Loctite on the end in the hole to add a bit more strength.

MaxPete, I agree that it takes a certain amount of threads to hold the max load of a bolt. I'm pretty sure the 5-7 ft.lbs. of torque that most of our 6 mm bolts get is well under the amount it takes to strip out the threads.

What do you think of the radical concept that just one thread will hold it if it doesn't need to be any tighter than what one thread will hold...
