Does anyone know of a way I can check my cam chain guide with the engine in the bike?

All the searching I have done points to engine out, which seems excessive.......:yikes:

No other way that I know of. You have to be able to see inside the cam chain tunnel. You can't do that with the motor assembled. If you've never replaced the front guide and it is an original, it's pretty safe to assume it needs replacing. It's not so much that they wear through, the glue fails and the rubber strip falls right off. It's more an age thing, not a mileage thing.

yeah I have even tried looking up through the bottom filter hole with a borescope, nearly impossible to see. but if you don't have chunks of rubber, it ain't making aluminum shavings and the adjuster is in normal range it prolly lives.
