Can you run a xs w/o a battery?

Sure with a permanent magnet charging system. There has been a lot of discussion about this. Try the two search boxes above just below the navigation menu.

Basically the stock charging system needs power to make power so you need a battery. If you convert to a permanent magnet charging system, the charging system makes power whenever the crank is spinning.

Not with the stock alternator. To run batteryless you need to convert to a PMA.

If you have TCI you will have to switch to a pamco or similar.
