I'm looking to retro-fit my '83 XS tracker with a stock ignition system and have a few questions for you electron freaks:
1. Is there any meter tests I can do with the stock rotor/ stator to see if they are good? Should I just take them to a generator shop and have them check it?
2. I hear tell that a Suzuki GN 250 TCI unit will fit up to and work on a XS. Is this true, and if so, will any year GN 250 unit work? They made that bike from '82 to '97

Really appreciate the help boys!

Jim does a great write up on the charging system in here, Post #2.

He also does rewinds. If you have to get a new rotor, it would be better to buy a dud secondhand one and get him to do a rewind. He does exchange rewinds............Some aftermarket new ones have been found to be problematic in the past
