i believe i may have a bad seal on my carb float needle because i get gas to seep out of the carbs when not running

i have taking the carbs apart several times and noticed that there is a small grove in the needle, i have tested the floats and they are not leaking and have adjusted them to the correct height

i was going to order a new from mikes but i feel that there is some mislabeling on his site i have a 78 with what i have identified as the stock carbs using his guide so i should use the part number 48-5019 but my needle look more like part number 48-1429 which is for the 70-71s

any help on identifying this confusion or ideas on why else the carbs are flooding

In the picture for 5019 they didn't pull the needle out and seperate the parts like 1429.
Could this be part of the confusion?

the orientation seems wrong.... the pointed part of the needle is on the same side as the treads ans that is not how the 5019 looks
