Thank you for creating this site, and allowing me to join as a new member. I just bought a 1980 XS650. Need help to identify the carb. It doesn't look like any of stock carb photos I saw in the forum. I'm guessing they are aftermarket. Based on what I've seen looks like Mikuni Roundslide 34mms??? I greatly appreciate the help as I am working to see what has been and not been done to this bike before I start riding it.

Yes, Mikuni VM. Hard to determine size from your pic. Just measure inside diameter at the engine side, that will be the carb size. 99% sure it is 34 or 36, but 38 is possible. You can also pull off the air filter, and measure the outside diameter at the filter end, and reference that to a table from Sudco or othe Mikuni supplier.
