Chain length question

Hi,
I am planning to get new chain and sprockets , stock gearing 17/34

If I get the stock 104 link length
Will it be too short if I put longer shocks on later ?
79 xs650 special.
Still not sure on what longer shocks , but the triumph ones are on the list probably close to 14inch,
Mine are 12.5 center to center

104 is good with that sprocket combination.
The adjustment marks should end up approx in the middle of the swingarm adjustment scale.
Longer shocks will not matter enough to notice,
But 14” is likely too long as the chain would be very close to running on the swingarm.
