Getting deeper into my build, which is my first, and at a point of trying to get some fasteners as well as the engine tidied up.

Was going to do a full rebuild - but - I want to ride this season, so that will wait for next winter.

Looking for some tips on cleaning up parts (any of the random bare metal parts and fasteners) as well as getting the engine cleaned up. Techniques or cleaners suggested to get stuff looking new?

Any help appreciated.

Steam cleaning is the best. Second best is a couple cans of cheapest brake cleaner and cheap engine degreaser and gasoline followed by a high pressure hose like at a car wash. Gasoline is great for dissolving gunk, like the stuff that gets on the rear rim left side for example. Follow with spray oil or Rust Reformer black spray paint on skinned parts you don't want to rust.
