Hi Guys the bike ran great after cleaning the carbs but the spluttering has subsequently returned ,I just ordered a petrol filter just in case thats the problem and am going to buy some new air filters .I contacted the ramair guys but the filters have an internal lip precisely placed LOL to cover the air intakes on the carbs so of no use ,
So its K&Ns they list RC 0982 as the correct filter for a 1979 xs650 bs38 carbs but it was suggested on this forum that for bs 38 carbs it should be a RC-1820?can anyone enlighten me as to why ?
Many thanks

The 1820 is the same filter element as the 0982 except it has a slightly smaller mounting flange. It fits the BS38s better because their intake bell is a smaller diameter than the BS34s. They are a perfect slip fit onto the BS38s, no stretching or excessive clamping required.
