Video of bogging and backfires with low voltage, cant figure out the problem

Ok guys! here's an update!

I did the test that carbon outlined in the video and here is the results:

*multi-meter was set to AC lowest setting I had was 200, motorcycle was started and warmed up*

Inserted probe 1 in top of connection from the 3 yellow wires from the stator in the PMA (referred to now a "T") and second probe into Left connection (referred to now as "L")

T+L Readings:

Idle : 10.7 - 11.1
@3000RPM's : dropped down to 1.4

T+R Readings :

Idle : 8.5 - 9.1
@3000RPM's : Drop to 1.4

R+L Readings :

Idle : 4.4 - 7.3
@3000RPM's : Drop to 1.4

*ran this test twice and go the same numbers to double check*

Sooooooooo according to this test my stator is B-U-S-T-E-D!!!

And I'm betting that noise I mentioned earlier in the video posted here
- was my stator going out, if you listen closely it sounds like a drive line whine and then pop out of no where on the left hand lower side! Well I'll be getting in contact with TC Bros and hopefully getting a new PMA!

No it was plugged in, just like the video carbon posted. Is that incorrect?

You should do the test with the reg/rec unplugged.
I know he doesn't say that but reg/rec in video is unplugged.
You can see that it is unplugged during the ohms test
I don't think the results will be different though. That volt test is pre reg/rec

Ok Results of test with the stator disconnected from the Reg/Rec:

T+L
idle : 10.3-11.0
@3000rpms : 31.7

T+R
Idle : 10.8-11.4
@3000rpms : 30.2

L+R
idle : 10.9 - 11.5
@3000rpms : 32.1

So this would confirm the stator is working?
well its back to the flow chart to retry a few things.
I'll keep y'all posted

I would have to say the stator is working

Solved!

Found a stator wire that was having intermittent / poor connection to the R/R, which was why I was getting all the confusing readings. After a bit of soldering the problem disappeared ! Phew.....!

excellent ! so I guess we'll be seeing a video soon huh !?:thumbsup::D

Yup! Already on it peanut, I took a small video today of just the bike pulling to 7000RPMS here :

and a walk around video of the bike here:

Been thinking about selling her lately, getting something more for touring, hmmmm who knows. I put it out there just to see what offers I could get.

Overall the cafe build was pretty simple and inexpensive, but parts like PMA, Pamco, Clipons, and seats are expensive. (The seat is simple to make yourself though)

excellent ! was that 70mph+ I saw there ?.......... scaryMary:yikes:

Mine frame wobbles like a bag of marbles at anything over 50mph :laugh:

The idle is perfect but I still think your engine has a bit of a slow throttle response though.. as if the timing is a bit retarded or the advance is not working properly. What ignition system have you got ?

Oh yeah lol I shifted at 7k in 4th and that was about 65-70mph then coasted up to 80mph in 5th at 5k-5500rpms. She holds pretty well, and as far as ignition I have a pamco and timing may need an update I'll take a look into that. However I am running a bit rich and the throttle has some play in it before it catches (need a new shorter cable after clip ons lol) so that might be what your seeing?
