Partly due to a difference in the mechanic's training? in the 60's a MC shop hire "had fixed my tractor, or rebuilt the chevy motor." today most have been through some sort of "mechanic's tech school course" ? So basic lefty loosy righty tighty is left out. also manuals are more "modular" One for basic procedures, and a manual for the specifics of each bike, this makes sense.
