custom length speedo cable

anyone know where I could get a custom length speedo cable? or ideas how to build one? or get a double female adapter? I want to mount my mini speedo on the forks. I've seen pictures of bikes with this so I know it can be done. I need a short cable. I can get an extension from mikes xs (650direct in Canada), but it has a male end on it. any thoughts?

I think they sell a universal inner cable at the parts store. For speedo's but I think it should work for tach's.
If you need an 8 inch cable cut the old housing 4 inches from each end. Hook the two parts back together with a coulple layers of heat shrink tubing. Cut the new inner cable to length hook on the new end.
