Decompression lever/ assembly

I have a 73 TX650 only kickstart. PO took out the decompression cable and also the decompression assembly/ tappet cover. I recently purchased the decomp cable but still looking for the tappet cover for it. Is there any thing else i would need to complete it. I would like to put it back to its original state and also it would alleviate me sometimes from stressing out on kickstarting.

That decompressor was put there for use with the electric starter. The lever that activated it also had the switch incorporated into it that triggered the starter (there was no push button). It wasn't used while kicking.

Yes understood. Thanks. I have everything else except for the tappet cover for the cable.
