Early dual throttle cable question

I assume you just pry this little sucker enough to get it off the old cable? Wanted to ask before i attempted the task.

Yep, it's not supposed to be like that. At some point in it's life someone decided to crimp the slot closed. Not necessary, the cable is not going to come out as long as it's connected to the carb and as you now know it makes cable changes that much harder.
 
The holder needs to be pried open again. The cable housing should be a slip fit in the holder and the slot wide enough so the inner cable slips right out through it.

I can see now where the P.O clamped the holders onto the cable. :wtf:Wonder why he did that? Anyway. Got her opened up to fit the new cable. Thanks guys.
 
Yes, leave it pried open. It should look like so and the end of the cable should be an easy slip fit into it .....
