Electric Start wont turn over.

Hey guys just got the engine turned over after a 5 month build. The kickstart works great however, when I press the electric start it just runs and runs making like a scratching noise. It wont engage the gears to turn it over. ANY IDEAS?

Is this difficult to replace? I have a general knowledge but am not sure how difficult it would be. What do you recommend? Should I take it somewhere?

you own an old bike.....dive in.

It can be done somewhat easily.
If you can "build" a bike then pulling the right side cover, clutch, then fix the springs on the gears will be a piece of cake.
