Electrical Connection Question

My question is, how do you connect multiple wires together?

I know you can solder or crimp on a connection when you have a splice, but what about when you have 3 wires that need to go together?

For example, I plan on running this setup. I circled the connections that I am talking about. When you have 1 main wire, but then need to break off into 2 separate wires.

How do I know which wire gets split? Does the main wire have to be a certain gauge?

I really just need to see how someone already did it, then I wont have a problem. I just can not picture in my head how it is suppose to look.

If anyone could help me out in how this is suppose to work, I would really appreciate it! Pictures would be awesome too!

Read through the wire diagrams thread http://www.xs650.com/forum/showthread.php?t=61 There are recomindations for gauge. I believe I used 12 for everything working the with charging system and to the coil, then 16 for all the lighting.
