On the front of the motor between the motor mounts will be the serial number. Get that number and search the site for "model id". It will give charts and other info to determine the year.

As far parts go your gonna surely need - oil feed tube, ignition system, left side tappet cover , carbs, and some exhaust. There may be more but i just noticed those

you can find those parts on egay, in the classifieds on this site, or mikesxs.com, and other places

I would suggest at least looking into a pamco ignition - I recently had a situation similiar to yours and you can get a complete ignition kit that will get it running (assuming everything internally is good) for around $200

Sweet frame and good luck

It has the electronic ignition but doesn't have the oil sight glass. I'd guess '79 or '80?
There's a link somewhere for the vin #'s that'll tell or one of the gurus'll jump in and tell ya.

am i missing something? i dont see anything matching my id

yours falls into the series beginning with 2f0-200101, so it is a 1980 engine
The easiest way to get that bike going would be to pull that engine out(save it as a spare), and swap a known runner in. You would easily spend a small fortune finding all the bits and pieces to make that one run. Non titled running bikes are getting harder to find, but they are still out there.

Does the number on the engine match the number on the frame? And did it come with a box or two of parts? If it has more parts then your missing stuff may be there.

nah he gave me the carbs n a shifter but thats about it

With the rust showing on the primary gears I'd be looking for a different engine to start from. You won't be able to trust the mains on that one. put in plugs and check compression.

I agree with gary, don't trust that engine, looks like it was outside for quite a while. Good for spare parts.
