Foot peg mount studs, difference in years

Im making rear sets for my 72 XS1B cafe project. My mounts fit fine on my frame, using the stock foot peg mount studs. I took them to my father-in-laws, to try on his 76, and they dont fit. The center to center distance of off by about .150. (4mm). I know they made frame changes through the years, but all the rear sets I see available in the after market, dont specify a year range. Very strange. About what year were these changes made? Any body know?

Probably in 74, they did a bunch of changes to the frame that year. Made it much stiffer.

Thats what i was thinking too. All these damn japanese bikes changed something every freaking year. Its killing me!!!
