So, 17mm for the front axle.
What about fork length? Let's go with the '73-84, preferably the later models. They're probably all the same length, no?

For fork lengths, you may want the fully-extended measurement from axle center to top of tube, excluding mods and variables, like lowering kits and sag settings. That way, you'll have a known and reliable starting point...
