Frame build

Well folks I will be re assembling this engine http://www.xs650.com/forum/showthread.php?t=20723
pics to follow, safe to say it looks a heck of a lot different .
My question is to do with frame building. I am intending to construct a frame from scratch and am going for a diamond frame however I would like to keep it tight and angular ( no soft radiuses here ) .
I understand using plugs on straight joints as additional strength but am hoping to just weld all joints with a root, filler and cap. Would this be adequate ?

Bronze welding isn't an option I don't have access to the equipement. I have a choice of Mig or Stick, prefer stick myself just what I'm used to. The welding it self isn't a problem.
