Frame differences by year?

I have seen it before but can't remember when the frames changed. I think it was around '75?

Id like to know what years use the same frame. I may be in a situation here where I need a frame to swap everything onto and I want to make sure I buy a frame that is the same as my '77.

A Special frame would work but I think you would want to stay with the '74 -'79 Standard version.

I guess if its only the backend, it wont matter since it will be hardtailed.

Yes, the back end is where the differences are (upper shock mounts and passenger peg/muffler hanger bracket).
