Having to charge new battery

I have an xs2 chopped and am losing power everytime I ride for distance (i'm talkin 8+ miles is all) bike starts to bog down a bit, power goes out, electric start doesn't whine, kick start wants to turn over but won't. checked for bare wires and haven't come accross anything yet. What could be the source of drain?

Is your charging system working? Thats what your symptoms point to.
