Hey

After looking over my new to me '77 XS650, I found two holes in the headers.

The holes look and appear original, perfectly round, behind them seems to be some kind of mesh. Can that be true?

It's not smoking or backfiring.

Are there exploded views available online?

Regards, Lasse

Yes, there are holes in the bottom and if you remove the nuts on the head and pull the plate back you will find more.
The headpipes are a double wall to keep the chrome from turning colors. The holes let air flow in and out as the pipes swell and shrink as they heat and cool.
