How is the speedometer hooked up? My 78 XS650 does not have one

I want to put a speedometer on my bike and it came without one when I bought it. How do I go about putting one on there? Could I get some photos of how it's hooked up on your bikes?

The speedo is cable driven off the front wheel. Even though your speedo is missing, the drive unit should still be there because it also acts as a wheel spacer .....
