I'm relatively new to the sport and not super mechanical, so I need a little help understanding why my '73 leaks a little fuel after a ride. Petcocks off, but often when then bike sits overnight, I almost always notice gas on the garage floor. Seems to be a few drain lines- one from each petcock and another larger one from somewhere as the sources. Is this normal? It's not a lot, but it's enough to stink up the garage. Please and thanks!

Hi reverbtank,
it's a common enough occurrence but no, it's not "normal" and it should be fixed.
The "usual suspect" for overnight gas puddles is a leaking petcock where the "off" position ain't quite "off" enough.
A petcock rebuild kit should be all that's needed. Dunno if the kit's writeup tells you or not but you should polish up the
petcock lever's inner sealing face so it shines like an outhouse door on a frosty morning to ensure a perfect seal onto the 4-hole rubber insert.
