green monster coil.

multimeter set at 200
one lead connected to one primary and the other lead connected to the other (little screws) i get 3.1 ohms. this is .2 under the 3.3 stated on mikesxs. is this within tolerances?

multimeter set at 20k
one lead in secondary, other lead into other secondary i get 15.18. mikesxs states 15k ohm secondary.

to me this looks like the coil is good. but like before, not sure of the tolerances, and im not sure if that is how you actually measure coil resistance correctly.

Looks good to me.

Mikes may be using perfect world calculations for these measurements. You will have a resistance from your leads and even your meter. The meters that you use can vary quite a bit as well.. that would be one of the big difference between your $20 and lets say a $5000 Fluke meter.

Blah blah blah.. your within tolerances!

awesome, that is what i was hoping for, it was more testing the secondary resistance that i was a little confused on for some reason.

Most electrical items have a 10% tolerance. So the 3.3 ohms can be from 2.9 to 3.6 and be ok. The 15k can be 13.5k to 16.5k and be ok.
