Usually I just tighten down the carb intake bolts, but am curious now if I should torque them down. Is there a torque specification for them. Can't find torques specs in my Clymer or XS650.com. Just not my day ;-) Anyway, anyone one have a suggestion? Just tighten them like I have been or torque them?

They are M6 bolts and don't have a special torque value, just the standard for that bolt size. I use about 80 in/lbs. The manifold gaskets are quite thick compared to most others on the bike. It may take a couple re-torques over the course of a few days before they compress down and you don't find the bolts loose.

LOL, thanks madjap, it's the second XS I've built.

Thanks for the numbers 5 twins and ranch wrench. I'm not sure why, but I still can't find toque specs in my Clymer. Your help is appreciated...
