Ok, it has been quite a while since I worked on this thing due to circumstances, but I worked on it this weekend and got the tank and bars on and motor in:

Then worked on her last night. Got the wheels trued, front tire on and rear tire kinda on (getting different rear tire, firestone). Starting to look like a bike now.

Just need to get rear tire and rear fender, seat and springs, and fab up the rest like pegs, foot controls, headlight mount, etc.

Been a while since I posted here. Haven't worked on the bike since last post until now. That's life though. Anyways... Got my seat hinge mounted, started shaping my seat foam, got a new firestone deluxe champion 5.00-16 tire and mounted it. Heres a few pictures:

Started with a flat sheet of 14ga and cut, bent, and welded up a battery box. Still needs finishing touches but here's the basic idea:

Piddled today. Made peg mounts. Made brackets out of 1/4" sheet then welded part of the old mounts to the plates. Saw it done on a bike here (can't remember who, but thanks for the idea). Ordered pegs and seat springs today. Still waiting on mt 7 Metal West ribbed rear fender to mount....

Some of you may have seen my bike for sale. I have a guy that wants to give me $2200 cash money. At first I was excited because I could really use the money for the move in August. 2 hours later I am kind of sad. I haven't even sold the bike and I don't want it to be gone. That being said, I may call him back and say sorry I just want to keep it and finish it... ok, rant over

On a good note, I got my 7 Metal West Ribbed and Ducktailed fender today after a LONG wait!!!!! Pics to come and hopefully I can mount it tomorrow!

I did the same thing with an 83 Heritage Special I pulled out of a garage after sitting 15 years just a month ago. Had it for sale for a month and kept getting lowballs and one guy who couldn't come get it. He texted me to come buy it and I told him I had changed my mind. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

well I just got home from work and set the fender on the bike to see how it looked. There's no way I can sell the bike now! It looks so good! It's always good to see a plan in my head come together in real life. I'm going to try to mount up the fender tomorrow and take it off craigslist...

Started mounting the fender today. It was very intimidating to cut up and drill into a $160 fender I waited 4 months for... Turned out good though. Hoping to have it mounted permanently by mid week. Just really busy with school and work right now.

Had some free time tonight and started making an electronics box. I haven't seen one exactly like it on an xs but there's probably one out there. I never could make up my mind on what I wanted to do for one and this is what I ended up with... for now. Not sold on it yet... and it still needs end caps.... tomorrow...

Ya it is. I decided I have too much time in it to sell it before I ride it. I also have a bet. Dad bet me $500to I couldn't finish it by August 22. Parts to finish bike ~$500, winning the bet $500, proving dad wrong.... priceless

Thanks Tron. Travis, progress is slow. School and work have me really busy. I hit a snag with the fender struts. I need an oxygen/acetylene torch to bend my fender struts. I have the torch, leads, and regulators. Just no tanks. I can't seem to find anyone to sell me used tanks to trade in for filled ones. I no longer have friends with said tools, but that is a really long story... still on the search for tanks or new friends with tanks haha

Did you go with the 5 1/2 inch or 6 inch rear fender from 7 metal west?

iirc I went with a 6 in. Bad news though... I broke my leg this past weekend. Therefore I will not be able to work on the bike and I won't finish it before I move to Florida. That also means I lost the bet with my dad. It sucks, but that's life...

So, I am staying with my parents for Thanksgiving break and I've had a chance to work on my bike a little bit. I had this idea for the brake pivot but I'm afraid it will just look like a blob... I set it up with some steel and a piece of cardboard. Let me know what you think. I just want something different than the standard setup, but I want it to be clean.

You're not far man.
I can't help u out much with the bird tail. They have the funky gussets. I just used my factory stay. Cut out the slug and used a piece of leftover frame tubing and just notched it. I have a T.C Tail though.
Get that thing going. I wish I was that close.
