So I just purchased two XS650s, a '77 and a '78, for $500. One has a bobbed frame and the other is fully stock. Ones going to a buddy and I'm keeping the other. Which one should I keep? I already have a stock '82.

The stock one gives lots of options. The bobber is only as good as the quality of the welding.

Guy I bought it from says he's a welder. Just didn't have time to do anything.

I'd get what I could out of the 78 Special and build something real cool out of that 77

The 77 is the brat bob. I'm definitely thinking about keeping that one.

The bobbed frame looks like one of the "brat" kits. Since the suspension is still there it gives lots of options compared to a hardtail. I cut off pretty much everything above the swingarm pivot on mine and redid it all for a champion seat and mono shock. Here's a picture of how much I chopped and how the frame ended up.

Definitely a brat kit. Not sure where he got it but he welded it himself. Seems nice and clean. I wanna pull parts off the other bike, but I'm not trying to f my friend over too bad. I'm definitely going to need a wiring harness. Are there any premade simplified harnesses? I'll be doing kick only for sure.

Also, has anyone seen anything like this on carb drain screws? I have no access to the main jets because they're completely glued on.
