Things were going so good,
I took off this morning didn’t really have a plan, I just felt like riding. I headed South through the desert, and crossed into farmland, just enjoying little two lane roads with no traffic. Then I saw a sign that said Palo Verde Rd. I knew that turning on to that road would take me to the lsleepy little town of Palo Verde Az, so that’s where I went.
Palo Verde is nothing more than a few farmhouses and a school, I blew right through it. Next stop the town of Arlington , if you can call this a town.

The post office is about to be swallowed up by these old salt cedar trees. I’m right on the corner of Nowhere and Vine.

This two lane road I’m riding on, the Old Highway 80, used to be a main highway before it was replaced with a super slab. The new highway is packed with semi trucks and travelers. The Old Highway hardly has a car on it and it meanders nicely.

While I was stopped here, I pulled out my phone to check some distances. The town of Gila Bend is 35 miles further, I decide to continue on. About 5 miles down the road, I was riding at 55 mph and it felt like a rock hit my throat , about two seconds later, an intense burning. I knew immediately what happened. I pulled over in front of an old building and quickly pulled off my helmet and gloves. I looked in the mirror and I could see the bee stinger stuck in my Adam’s apple. I pulled out a credit card and scraped it off.

Well that ended my day, I was 50 miles from home and I turned around. Before I even made it home my throat was starting to tighten up. So ended my big adventure!
( At least I got a hundred miles in! )
