Curmudgeon.
Buddy of mine in Charleston SC has a KZ900 Kawi with valve problems, from his description of one valve not holding adjustment (bucket style adjusters, he adjusts it, a few hundred miles later it has no clearance again) a valve is pounding out a seat meaning it will probably need seats and valves. It seems the local Charleston machine shops say they no longer work on vintage bike engines so he's a little stumped on what to do next. Columbia and Greenville down here are a machine shop wasteland.
