Leather Gear, why is it all Black?

I've been thinking about one of these in black, brown or green: http://www.duluthtrading.com/store/...se-workwear/mens-fire-hose-jackets/51003.aspx

They're made from fire hose fabric which is really tough.

We used to use old fire hoses along the edges of flatbed trailers that hauled concrete block. I've seen forklifts snag the hose and pull the nails and wood out of the trailers and never damage the old fire hose.

I've seen fire hoses attached to mud pumps and stretched across roads and driveways for days on end and never tear even when the rubber inner lining shredded to bits.

Perhaps the idea is to focus attention on the bike and not the rider.

Edit: I've got a couple pairs of those Duluth Fire hose pants, and I'll buy more. They outlast Carhartts for me.

The chaps have always seemed pretty creepy to me. "Can you make me a set of leather pants, but without the ass and crotch?"

heh heh... come now, chaps are practical protection... easy on-easy off, over your regular pants

True, but why do people wear them for hours walking around shows and other places if they are so easy to take off, lol.
And they are great protection. Ask a cowboy.
