lowering spacer question

The set screw holds the spacer in place so it doesn't slide up and down on the rod. Also, the spacer covers one of the oil holes in the damper rod. Hugh compensates for this by drilling a hole in the spacer to match. The set screw locks the spacer in place once you line up the oil holes.
 
Thanks for the reply! Just to be clear, there are two holes on the spacer, one that lines up with the hole in the damper rod and the other that has the set screw?
 
Yes, the set screw hole is threaded, the oil hole is not. The set screw doesn't go into any hole, dimple, or anything on the damper rod. It just tightens against it to keep the spacer from moving.
