Just getting started on this bobber build, got ahold of frame (someone else welded the TC Bros HT on it) and a couple of motors I'm going to be building a bobber out of. Just picked up some wheels from Jim (big thanks) today so its officially a motorcycle and not just random piles of parts in my garage now. Machine also sent me an aluminum front rim ( also big thanks) that will get re-spoked and cleaned and eventually live on the front end. Lots more to come! xsframe.jpg xsframe2 (2).jpg tx650a.jpg tx650a2.jpg

I think you can see the majority of the DT in those pics, it’s kinda spread out all over right now.

yeah I’m kinda out of room at this point organization went out the window a few years ago...

I’m not really sure about the motor yet, mostly depends on what they look like when I open em ups if I gotta spend a bunch of money just to get em going I might as well do it with go fast parts. If not then it will most likely just get a Hoos cam, ports cleaned up, and valves lapped, rings, and gaskets.

If they need it, I made a little fixture for the Atlas to regrind valves.

Cruisinimage is your best bet for pistons and rings.... both standard and big bore. Lotsa' people 'round these pars use 'em. Haven't heard a bad word about 'em yet. And they're nicely priced. Look for ARS seals. They're the same folk that made the OEM's... Japanese instead of you know who.

Jim, that’s a nice tool post grinder. Have you got a seat cutter set as well?

I bought most of the parts I need to make a seat cutter, just haven't got around to putting it together. Lemme' know when you get close. Maybe that will motivate me...

Got the wheels from @Jim on, looks a little more like a bike now. FA6DDF2B-6E05-45FF-8C6E-F1E261E7C8BF.jpeg 240295A8-62AA-42C6-9FA3-6F6164B88E58.jpeg

Nice. I was just thinkin' I shoulda let you borrow my dummy motor to check the engine mounts. Since the PO did the hardtail, I'd double check 'em before getting to far down the road.

As far as I can tell PO was not a great welder, but it would appear that they did line everything up fairly well. Looks pretty straight. Nothing that can’t be fixed with a grinder. I’ve got a pretty sizable jib crane so dropping a motor in isn’t that big a deal. I’ve got a little welding to do before drop one of my motors in.

Started working on making a set of mid-mount peg brackets using an old set of sporty passenger pegs I had laying around. peg.jpg peg1.jpg

    Looks like excellent work!
Rusty; I'll pile on, heed Jim's test fit a motor sooner than later advice. See if ALL the mount bolts will go in. Will beat having tufts of pulled hair on the shop floor later.

Yeah, I intend to test fit a motor as soon as I get the peg mounts welded on because I need to be able to flip the frame over to weld on the bottom. I also need to come up with some motor mounts. The bottom and rear bottom mount bolts will just be 10mm rod threaded on the ends in the lathe but I need to get a front motor mount assembly and set of upper rear plates, wont be running a head stay. Strangely enough I actually have a spare head stay:doh:

Thought I had extra mounts... but no joy. Try @halfmile over in Topeka. He's prolly got a bathtub full. @DanielBlack over in St Looy had some for sale earlier this yr. Give him a pm?

Negative here on the motor mounts. Jim and Grey grabbed the two I had.
