Well I've finally figured out how to use this site and I'm amazed at the amount and quality of the information here. I really feel like my little project will be a success now! Well except for the wiring LOL. Suck at electrics.

But I really do appreciate and thank everyone for all the info.

Another NC'r, let us know when you get to wiring. There are a few good parts swaps that will simplify that and make your bike more reliable in the process...

Sadly I know what you mean Q Tip, I have two left thumbs when it comes to wiring.
But I got to say this place has alot a people who know that kinda stuff..helped me so many times...

I'm not fond of wiring either but this bunch will get you through it if you just remain patient. And like Punkskalar said, it's good to find other XS owners in NC.
