Got one with another welder today, it's a Snap on MHG5-A I have a snap on MIG so it should plug and play. Just wondering about others experiences welding with one. Not sure If I'll keep it, or sell it on.
Yes i have. It was part of the ciriculum for my welding degree. Haven't done it since then. The machine we used was from the early 80's. Made big fat welds. Great for making boats, prolly not for bikes, but the smaller ones these days like yours you could probably find a use
I've also done some MIG welding with aluminum wire. On a budget Century mig. To do it right, must invest in another gas bottle. This is DEFINITELY one best learned at school, or set aside a week to study and practice. Special language used, keep family members away.
Then, confine it to jobs where appearance is not important.
The wire melts rapidly, and wants to melt at the nozzle first. Takes fast feed, until the part warms up. Gotta move fast, adjusting speed and feed. Too many variables, unless you've mastered juggling.
