Mike's xs fl

My turn. I do hope Mikesxs does ok. I never had a problem before the change, so I hope it gets better. Soon!
DaddyG, I tried to start an account with Burt's Bees, the all natural lip balm and stuff. I've been using them for years!! And it would have been a great addition to my store. I keep bees and sell my own honey, so it would be the same theme. Well I had to produce all kinds of pictures of my store front and inside, ect. Now burt's Bees prides themselves as all natural, save the Earth and small business, tree hugger type. Well, one of the questions on the app is annual sales predictions. I guess I couldn't put enough money in their pockets to be accepted into their "club". Hypocrites. "Save the Earth" but make us money first Guess that's why most of their stuff is in large, Wal-Mart type, stores. The all mighty dollar.

I have to agree with those folks who say, "give them a chance!" There are certainly going to be some problems with any business transition whether it is small or large. The number of XS vendors who carry a wide range of products is not so large that we can afford to lose one the major players. If they don't get their act together in the next few months, the market place will sort them out.
That being said, I have placed two orders with Mikes since the new regime took over....both arrived on my doorstep in central Va. in five days. The orders were complete and well packed....so far I am happy!

My ONLY gripe, is that they should have WAITED to raise their prices to they had their parts in stock, and all their ducks in a row....

Punks.....I agree completely! The across the board opening price increase was definitely not the way to win the hearts and minds[?]of their customers!! And it is true about the Pamcos......got mine last week!

I just wonder what sort of "experienced businessmen" they are? I don't think they ride bikes, let alone 650s. They could be 3 shoe store owners for all we know, lol.

FYI, Joker Machine Performance is getting into the XS and CB game with parts and accessories. If you have seen what they can do to a Triumph then you can imagine what they can do for a XS.

Hahaha its funny you mentioned that beotch ... (yes burts bee's is owned by a woman) ... She came to Maine a few years back and bought an entire township and stopped people from using the state funded snowmobile and ATV trails that were already established on the property ... no hunting no fishing no use of her land allowed. Now that is her right, as she bought and paid for the land, but she knew the trails were there and were state funded when she bought it. ... Anyway back on topic, I have to get a few things from mikes pretty soon (looks like about another month before I will be able to get my bike out so no hurry) I hope things get straightened out soon.

People, it's business practices. When you open a business, you announce it, you advertise, you promote your web site, You publish your phone number. You try to reach perspective customers. I don't see any of this happening. An alternate scenario: MikesXS was in such disarray that it's everything the new owners can do to keep it from sinking. Their total attention is focused on vendors and accounts receivable. Possible but I don't believe it.

My take on things. Some facts and some speculation.

When these guys took over, they stated on MikesXS home page that they would be improving the quality of parts and would have a continuous supply of parts in stock so there would be no waiting. This has been removed, why, because Mike L is the supplier of XS parts and he gets his parts when they arrive and he probably told them to remove it because it was not true. And how would a statement like that go down when the previous owner who is the parts supplier......... or maybe they thought they could cut Mike out and go direct to the makers?

The separate franchise of mikesXS, US, Canada, Europe, have to sell within their area, no cross border selling into other areas. No choice for those people in those countries as to which mikes they can buy from, MikesXS states, countries like Aus, NZ Can buy from the nearest MIkesXS outlet. I cannot buy from MikesXS Canada i get refered to MikesXS, US. I think the new buyers were not sure about this and they thought they would be able to sell world wide.

Mike L. makes money on the parts he gets made and his prices in the US, ( before selling the retail outlet), reflected that. I think these new owners thought they were going to reinvent the wheel with this business but reality is setting in.

Prices are not 10% across the board either, The cam is 10.8%, that = $3.00 more than 10%. I can understand that happening to low cost parts to round them off to the $ but on more expensive parts to round up to the nearest $10 is just plain greedy.

650Central get their parts from Mike L not mikesXS so the new owners would have no say on what 650Central can have or not have, or when.

Mike is an astute businessman and this set up is good in a way, as it stops one business from having a monopoly on XS parts, but on the other it takes away the right to purchase at the cheapest outlet.

If these new guys don't get their act together on shipping i will be taking my business to 650Central. The reason i have not done so before is that i could rely on Mikes to have my parts arriving 10 days after ordering, (to Aus). It is more difficult buying from 650Central because he has no cart set up.

Just my :twocents::twocents: worth

If you are correct and this is an attempt to start franchise's in other countries with controlled sales areas. It will fail immediately. In this day of global trade over the internet that type of thinking is hopelessly outdated.

This has been happening since ..........Ask XS1961. (England). he can't buy from the states. I cant buy from Canada, I havent tried to buy from europe, and why would i when the prices are almost double the US prices

There you go with them negative waves, man. I think y'all are just spoiled. If you had, say a Hodaka, or a Maico you wouldn't be used to having SO much support. Let's just chill, wait a while, and see what happens. It'll all be OK, I promise.

NOT ALL parts from Mikesxs are made by Mike L, from what I have heard the 750 kit comes from a guy in Finland or something. There is a link on here and a discussion in one of the threads.

It may take long to ship for you guys, but may get there faster if it is out of stock locally!

I agree it is a global market now and businesses need to create their business models around that. I bought 2 aftermarket harley rims and a jesse james fender, the shipping cost me more than the parts, but all of it was still cheaper than I could get any rear wheel here retail.

Just my 5cents…..2cents is no longer legal tender here :))
