Modern forks for the XS?

Hey, folks! I'm currently rebuilding my Dad's old XS650 special. I plan on going with two calipers in the front. The question that I have is: Had anyone swapped the front forks with something modern (upside down forks) and been able to retain the original rim. I would REALLY like to keep my front Mag rim.

Yes, it has been done many times. R1 forks, SV650 forks, you name it. Many times it has been documented on here as well. Should be plenty of threads for you if you just search for "r1 forks" or "forks swap" or something similar.

I haven't done the swap myself but found that cognitomoto.com has some conversion parts for fork swaps.
