Hello,

Brand new to the site. I have a 1978 XS650 with the center stand taken off. I purchased a new Craftsman 1500lb center jack lift: http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&sqi=2&ved=0CIIBEBYwAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.sears.com%2Fshc%2Fs%2Fp_10153_12605_00950191000P&ei=50rOT63EBoGj2QWW3tXYDA&usg=AFQjCNEOrSX5mS44Kvc0INQyahp_H1IxwA&sig2=yvGYveFWzKYv2nCFb78rsA It's about a foot wide but notice the bottom of the bike has uneven frames. The lift tabs near the engine would cause the bike to be wobbly and the side stand get's in the way. I attached a picture below. Is there anyway to use this jack? if I place the jack starting at the center stand mounts, will I damage the frame? Appreciate the help.

You'll probably need to make up a custom pad for the jack out of wood to fit the frame and/or bottom of the engine.

I might try putting the lift so the one support is just behind the sidestand. Let the other hit where ever it will.
If the rear most support hits the exhaust before it hit the frame, put a piece of 2x4 cut the just a bit wider than the frame on the lift.
Another way would be to put the rear lft arm under the center stand mounts and let the front hit where it may, if on the side stand mount, shim the other side with a piece of 2x4 trimmed to match the side stand mount.
Either way will be fine.
