I need replacement 38 mm ID muffler joint gaskets that fit into my original threaded muffler joint nuts or "collars".
Though I have a 1976, the 40 mm ID ones from Mikesxs will just not fit inside the "collars".
My mufflers (I understand that the PO installed these at some point) have "XS650-14721" stamped on them....
I placed an order with Mikesxs for their 38 mm (ID) gaskets (#07-4622 / 256-14714), but they got a bad batch from supplier, so now it will be a few weeks before they restock these.
Where else can I buy 43 mm OD, 38 mm ID (2.5 mm thick) muffler gaskets?
What are these gaskets made of? Graphite?
My worksite has a gasket shop and they might be able to fabricate a couple for me, but I'm not sure what specs/gasket material composition they need (aside from dimensions).
Thanks.
Never mind. I took a Dremel and a diamond cutting disc and cut a few mm's from each gasket at the split. They fit perfectly and snugly into the muffler joint nuts. I'm pretty sure these are asbestos with impregnated metal.
