Can someone tell me what this part is and what purpose it serves?

Thanks.

Thats the self-destruct device. Contains a small charge of C-4 for when you have had enough of the bikes charging problems and activate the hidden switch.:banghead:

I dont think I have ever seen that on any of the XS's I have owned. Whats the writing say?

12-volt electronic gremlin bell. For those more difficult gremilins.

I'm not at home with my bike to look at it (I'm supposed to be working), but looking at a Electrical Parts Diagram, it may be a Diode which would be like an electrical version of a check valve allowing current flow in one direction, but not in the opposite direction.

I'm guessing though.

I just need to tuck it away and forget about it....

That sounds important - I'll put away my wire cutters and leave that puppy alone.

I installed a Pamco last year and was wondering whether this part had become extraneous. Guess not! Nothing to do with ignition system. I'll leave it in peace.

Thanks, Jayel !

xjwmx, Thanks kindly for that edit that includes the guillotine :yikes: reference (that replaced the presumptious phrase "and we all know what happened to him"). Bah hah hah.

I read some Emile Zola in my younger days, but not Camus.

That statement of mine was just about to be my new Signature line...
