Need some help getting my bike going

So I just recently picked my xs up and it was pretty much a rolling frame with a motor. A motor with nothing connected. So I have a few questions. As far as wiring goes I have a friend that is a genius with wiring so no problem there but I was pretty much just going to wire up the headlight and taillight. Is this what people usually do on bobbers? I am not daily riding it so I don't feel the need for all those luxuries. Also is there supposed to be some kind of spacer on the sides of the front wheel? The brake disks were removed off the front and it now has a lot of play side to side. Is it looked down upon to run no front brakes too?

And for the rear brakes (disk) I didn't get anything to make them work. What exactly do I need to purchase to get them working?

The gas tank that came with it is a king sporty style. It didn't come with a petcock or a gas cap. I was wondering if I could make the petcock off the stock tank work? And also are there caps out there that are easy to get my hands on that will work with the tank?

egads. sounds like you took on a big project and you have not much experience in the fabrication dept.

There is wheel spacers. You can go with no front brake...but it won't stop as fast. You need a.caliper/caliper mount and the spacers to make the back work, need master cylinder and lines.

Here are the parts diagrams for every year. I'd have never got my basketcase back together without them, and I was missing a ton of parts.

You can get parts at http://mikesxs.net and http://www.650central.com

The front brake makes a huge difference. I run one, even on my old bike that's going for a vintage look. The rear brake is probably sufficient and I've ridden bikes without fronts, but it's more a matter of not enough tire rubber on the ground to stop fast.

+1 on a it's a big project, No front brake will DOUBLE your stopping distance. With what you need I would suggest advertising to find a parts bike (Craigspeak for no title) that would be a lot cheaper than shagging down parts one by one. not to mention seeing how the stuff is supposed to go to together.

Also what is the best way to run the rear brake lever and the master cylinder after the hard tail is installed?
