Oil drain crush gaskets

Stupid question. Trying to get my dad's old 80 special II going. Not a mechanic just got oil drain crush gaskets from Bike Bandit and not sure which way the flange goes. Against the threads or not. Probably here somewhere but cannot find it.

If your washer is different on each side, I guess I'd put the slicker side facing the plug since it turns. Probably doesn't matter. I've only used copper regular washers.

if it's the copper wrapped around a "rope core" type I don't think it makes much difference, either way will work. yes a bit of lube doesn't hurt but lube is always there, dripping. Thoroughly cleaning flanges and threads is more important than which way. Without the gasket the plug should finger thread till it seats.
