Petcock Crush Washer

Ok boys, I gotta leaky crush washer on my non-vacuum style petcock from Mikes. It was leaking, i tried to torque it down to stop the leak, and the washer/gasket that goes between the brass fuel outlet/drain and the rest of the petcock broke. Any idea what I can use instead of buying a ~20 dollar rebuild kit for 1 gasket? Would a copper crush washer work?

I'm using fiber washers from the local Ace Hardware to seal the mounting bolts
on my 77'D with Mike's petcocks.

I used yellow Teflon tape on the bolt threads. Seems to work. It's the same Teflon used for gas pipe and was marked as suitable for gasoline.

Same, I went through a few washers that never sealed well...so Teflon tape was my solution, and it's worked well.

Sometimes a electrical terminal eyelet is soft enough to use as a sealing washer.
