petcock replacement

replacing petcocks on my 73 tx650 and wanted to know how to drain the tank,will all fuel come out through the outlet or will i have to put a pan under petcock and remove that way,thanks txgary

Just opening the petcock will drain most of the fuel, what's left isn't enough to worry about. Once you drain the fuel you can easily remove the tank to work on it.
Are you replacing the petcocks or rebuiling them?
