Please help regulator rectifier problems 82xs

I tested my original one it came up dead on my rebuild. Then I ordered one from tc brothers had there simplified harness already. I get power off the regulator rectifiers ground (black wire) and I dont get it. Just bench testing it if you hit the red pin with power you get power off the back ? Please help my brain hurts

Best if you draw a schematic of your test setup, including how/where you're applying power/ground, and where the meter leads are connected.

Offhand, I'd say that you're reading the regulator's typical drain current as voltage. Like applying power to one side of a light bulb, and wondering why voltage is present on the other side...

it involved a gator clip to the red wire and a test light on the black . didnt seem to chamge if I had it grounded to metal or not. First time I hooked it all it I popped my fuse from the regulator rectifier
