I have an almost complete 74-75 xs650b and a 72-73 tx. I was wondering what the possibilities where of being able to swap engine parts, specifically the clutch?

I think the only common/interchangeable parts to your clutches would be:

The clutch springs and screws.
The clutch basket.
The clutch washers, nut.
The 30mm sleeve bushing.

Not interchangeable:
The hub (boss) and pressure plate.
Friction and steel discs.

So I should be able to swap my 74 basket out, use same plate and hub with **7 friction disc** setup?

That sounds fine.
Let me put it another way.

The early (non indexed) hub and pressure plate must be kept together as a set.

The later (indexed) hub and pressure plate must be kept together as a set.

The early clutchpack must be kept together as a set.
(6) 3.5mm frictions + (5) 1.6mm steels.
(You can toss the (6) spreader o-rings)

The later clutchpack must be kept together as a set.
(7) 3.0mm frictions + (6) 1.4mm steels.

All other parts are interchangeable, but:

Best to use the matching retaining nut/washer for the hub.

Clutch springs may have a history, replaced with upgrades and/or aftermarket. For these I'd recommend selecting a matched set of (6), by wire thickness, winding counts, lengths. Or install new ones.

Edit: Check the primary gear lash if swapping the clutch basket. You may want to use its matching crank gear...

Thank you! I really feel lucky for snagging both engines and one rolling chassis for $120 with it being my first build an all you can see what I've managed to do
