Quiet down open exhaust

i run a set of gordon scott drag pipes and they are loud! Im convinced if i go into town i will be pulled over. anyway... i ordered a set of insert baffles to try. i will let you know how they work out when i get them

In my quest to subdue the audible volume of my exhaust. It sounds great from start up to 3000 rpm, it gets annoying around 4000 + rpm. I don't want to make a "Q" ship just more pleasent at 70 mph. I found these guys. It seems something like this can be homebuilt. Any suggestions.

Hmmm . . . except those are for 2" drag pipes.

So, you don't want to run silencers, is that right? If you don't mind silencers, I really like the way the old genuine Peashooters as found on Norton Commandos are constructed. They're straight-through with tiny louvers running down the pipe. Still pretty loud, but not nearly as loud as straight pipes. And at 70 mph on the freeway with my Norton, they're comfortable sounding.

i have open pipes, and put in those inserts that look like some one 'tubed' sheet mettal, the attacked it with a can opener. I have the 4 incher, and took the 'snap'sound out of the tone.

I have this muffler with 2/1 headers. Pretty much straight pipes.

Looks like one of the ubiquitous Sportster cast-offs. Good mufflers, and easy to find on the used market cuz one of the first thing many Sporty owners do is ditch the stock exhaust for loud pipes.

4"in long 1 1/2"in baffles off Ebay ! Still loud but not too loud. My pipes are cutt off before the stock exhaust mouting bracket. Just enough space to put the baffles on.
